On the banks of the river Isla sits a house with a story to tell

In 1872, Robert Kynoch-Shand purchased a stretch of woodland on the banks of the river Isla overlooked the beautiful Linn of Keith.

It was here he built a Victorian mansion, built from local sandstone the house was complete with tower, crow-stepping, gables and dormers.

In 1993, The Chivas and Glenlivet Group recognised the grandeur of the house and gardens and embarked on a journey to restore it to its former glory.

Opened to the public in 2020, every corner holds a treasure waiting to be discovered. Visible from the front of the house are the original gargoyles and crests including one bearing the initials RKS – Robert Kynoch-Shand.

Surrounded by five acres of lawns, shrubs and woodlands, the grounds contain the remains of a Victorian walled kitchen garden, restored to their original splendour.
